Tyler Marshall was born in Detroit in 1941. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959-63, after which he attended Stanford University where he received his B.A. in Political Science. Marshall always had an interest in journalism, and first officially entered the field in 1964 as a cub reporter for the Sacramento Bee. From that point on, Marshall has continued to excel as a journalist with an impressive history at the L.A. Times, as well as several illustrious awards.
