open mic night
friday, may 9th
8 pm

speak, rant, sing, stomp and whistle, recite, act, and if you know any magic, bring your top hat and cape.
chad will do the old saw-the-lady-in-half routine, and in lieu of ladies unwilling to go under the knife (which i find hard to believe, this being ketchum and all), gary has volunteered to take one for the team!
i will bring a box of noise makers. you need only bring yourself and a friend, who should in turn tell a friend.
coffee drinks and teas and other goodies are available, too, so if you haven't bitten into something sweet in a while, now's your chance.
did we mention how the last open mic night turned out?

The contributors include an exceptional array of poets, both past and present, from Auden to Kerouac, Baudelaire to Neruda. Draper is a classical pianist and music teacher. She leads music retreats for the San Francisco Guild for Psychological Studies from her home in the Santa Cruz Mountains using live piano music, poetry, and art.

Most of us have quotes that we remember. Phrases that have touched a certain way of interpreting things that have happened in our lives or the world around us. Local author Elise Lufkin has used her
highly developed sense of intelligence, style, and grace
to choose the thoughts and phrases that have touched her to share with her readers. Not Bartlett's draws from sources as diverse as the Song of Solomn to Joan Didion on topics that include Gardening, Advice for Living and History and Politics.
When: Thursday December 20th

Anthony Doerr is the prize-winning author of such esteemed awards as the National Endowment for the Arts and the Rome Prize
one of the most prestigious honors from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He was given the Rome Prize at the same time his wife gave birth to twins. Those two events form the basis of his latest book, Four Seasons in Rome: On Twins, Insomnia, and the Biggest Funeral in the History of the World.
The book discusses in vivid and ethereal detail the process by which one translates life into the art of the written word. An exploration of his life, the writing process, and his new patron city, Four Seasons in Rome is a wonderful embrace of life, both present and past.

When: Saturday September 29th
Where: Iconoclast Books Ketchum
Time: 5:30 PM
Mr. Doerr has also been writing reviews for some incredible books, all of which we'll have a few copies at the event. Follow this link to preview all these fine books.
